Tasting Notes: Aromas of sweet spice. The palate is brimming with black ripe fruits - raspberry, cherry and hints of sharp wild strawberry. Soft - silky, well integrated tannins make this wine supple and juicy. Harvested by hand, from low yielding, old vines. Clos del Rey practices minimal intervention, allowing the soil, climate and vines to do the work.
Clos Del Rey is making a name for itself - exceptional wines at modest prices.
It’s an adventure that began nearly 200 years ago, on family land in the hills of Maury. Clos del Rey is the story of the Montagné family, who for generations have chosen to enhance this terroir, well known for its natural sweet wine, but which holds many other viticultural treasures.
The Domaine du Clos del Rey was born in Maury, where clay-limestone soils meet
the garrigue, where the locals, passionate about their land, decided long ago to
defend the fruit of the vine's labor. Located in the heart of a protected natural
area, the estate's vineyards stretch across a dozen hectares, reaching up to 300
meters in altitude.
Carignan and Grenache vines grow alongside each other, evolving at their own
pace, influenced by the geological and natural diversity that enriches this terroir.
Driven by a passion for the vine passed down from father to son, and a desire to
enhance indigenous grape varieties, these native Maurynois are eager to share
with you the energy that flows through the soil, leading to the diverse and varied
aromatic profiles in each wine, so different from one cuvée to the next.
