Tasting Notes: Bright aromas of citrus and green herbs balanced by notes of white pepper and hints of spice.  The palate is dry, fresh and inviting.  Crisp, balancing acidity delivers a fruit filled wine that is vibrant.  Gruner Veltliner or Zold Veltelini as it is known in Hungary is believed to date back to Roman times

Jozsek Torley founded his winery in 1882, following a period working for Roederer Champagne House, building it to become one of Hungary's best known wine producers.  Jozsef had no children, passing the winery onto to his brothers and nephews.  Torley became the leading sparkling wine producer in Hungary.

Fortunes changed -  WWII saw a direct bomb hit on the main winery building. the communist government nationalized the business in 1949, it merged with Francois Bros Winery, but shrinking considerably to only 4 employees.  The business was forced to continue by selling the remaining stock.

Hungarian State Wine-cellars appropriated the champagne factory in 1955, predecessor of today’s Hungária, which took over Törley champagne factory from Unicum. In 1987, Hungarovin became owner of Törley. Since 1992, Henkell & Söhnlein Hungaria Kft, a subsidiary of Henkell & Sohnlein Sektkellerei AG of Wiesbaden, Germany, has owned and produced the Törley brand.
