Tasting Notes: Gorgeous deep ruby red colour. This wine is redolent of vegetal notes such as blackcurrant buds and floral notes reminiscent of grape vine flowers. Nice density; a spherical wine. Structured tannins on the finish. Lovely depth for the appellation and the vintage.
This vineyard is located between 300 and 400 meters above sea level on slopes of valleys or plateaus to the west of the famous Côte de Nuits. Planted in calcareous clay soil (originating in the Jurassic period), the orientation of the vineyards ranges from south to east, which gives the vines optimal exposure to the sun.
Vinification takes place in temperature-controlled vats at 28-30°C with punching of the cap before being aged for 8 to 12 months in oak barrels. Aged for 8 to 12 months in oak barrels.
The producer has existed for almost 200 years, purchased by the Bichot family in 1955. It is based in Beaune – the ‘capital’ of Burgundy wines – where it has developed long lasting relationships with its partner growers, with some spanning decades. Jean Bouchard’s wines represent every terroir across Burgundy, from Chablis to Mâconnais, and are vinified in-house by a team of oenologists, who aim to express the character of each grape variety and vintage.
