Tasting Notes : Ionio Superior Extra Virgin Olive Oil is well balanced, with smooth combination of slightly sweet fruitiness and a gentle peppery finish.
Following a long standing traditional the olives are hand picked from centuries old trees, high on the slopes of Mount Aenos, on the beautiful island of Kefalonia in the Ionian Archipelago. The Migliaress family arrived on the island from Italy in the early 15th century and soon became one of the most influential families, this culminated in the family received a noble title from the ruling Venetian family.
Producing superior quality olive oil began three generations ago in the early 20th century. The altitude of the west facing olive groves, at approximately 750m above sea level, together with rainwater coming off the upper mountain slopes, creates a unique micro climate for growing superior olives. The land and climate give the olives their distinctive flavour. Using local varieties Thiako, Dopia and Koroni olives.
