Tasting Notes: Coto de Caleruega Roble is a fresh, complex, and vibrant wine. The altitude of its vineyards, combined with the complexity of the Tempranillo variety and a touch of Merlot, makes it a rounded and gourmand wine, with a pleasant balance between the freshness of the fruit and the influence of its three months stay in barrel.
Caleruega vineyards come from high altitudes, and the vineyards are between 30 and 50 years old. The climate is perfect for the grapes, due to its thermal jump between day and night and together with the soil, suitable for fresh and ageing wines, they make a special terroir.
Winemaker Lluis Miquel Laso Roig.

Barón de Ley was founded in 1985 by a small group of Rioja wine professionals who wanted to develop a purely “vineyard driven” winery, oriented to the production of high quality wines from their own vineyards. They also wanted to develop and implement a new style of “modern” Rioja wines; wines of deeper colour, structure and concentration, in line with what today's most discerning consumers are looking for.
