Tasting Notes: On the nose the gorgeous high notes of macerated strawberries together with the slightly earthy deep tones of stewed plums sing from the glass. Delicious glimpses of freshly baked cherry danish and sweet glacé apricots entice. Intense sun kissed strawberries intermingle with dark berry fruits while perfumed dried peaches dance with white pepper and pickled ginger. The palate weight is luscious and the elegant tannins marry with fragrant jasmine blossom. Unoaked, unfined and unfiltered.
In 2021 McLaren Vale experienced a wet winter, but also a mild spring and summer going into Vintage 2022. This created superb ripening conditions from fruit set and flowering through verasion and ripening. The resultant wines have an ideal balance of sugar ripeness, natural acidity and texture. The 2022 red wines have intense, rich and balanced flavours and colours, while whites are showing pretty aromatics and natural acidity.
After working for Grand Cru Chateaux Haut Bailly in Bordeaux Charlie came back to McLaren Vale and Wanted to make a F#^K Off Shiraz! All of the viticulture is based on what he learnt from the 5 months living over there. The fruit is all hand-picked by his mates from Adelaide (who drink more than they pick). 85% of the whole bunches are put at the bottom of an oak open fermenter and the rest are whole berries. Inoculated with EC118 (champagne yeast) it is then plunged 4 time per day for 1.2 months. Unoaked, unfined and unfiltered… Ready for you.
