Tasting Notes: When the darkness arrives and the night shift begins, mendoza comes to life with music and dancing.
The wine has a bright, lifted nose with freshly picked black berry fruits with expressive violet notes. The palate is juicy but balanced. Ripe berry fruits are abundant, whilst gentle spice adds dimension. It's weighty with soft, gentle tannins and an enduring fruit charged finish.
The SWA judges praised the wine's:
"cherry scents, tannin grip and nice acidity" plus its "warm, ripe aromas of berry and cherry, ... red and black fruit with some peppery tannins, and leading to a well-balanced finish".
This wine is sourced from low yielding vineyards in Mendoza's Agrelo region. The 1,000 metre plus altitude helps the variety ripen slowly, and ensures the grapes' alluring aromatics are preserved.
