Tasting Notes: Deep, dark red in colour. Bright cherry with sweet blackberry flavours, hint of leather. This is a robust wine, yet has an elegant finish with lovely soft tannins.
The wine is named in honour of Monsieur Malbeck, the man who gave the varietel it's name at the end of the 18th century.
Cahors is in the South West of France, on the river Lot, equi distance from the Mediterranean, the Atlantic and the Pyrenees. The area is one of a few that grow the Malbec grape variety. In 1956 frost almost wiped the grape out in France, the
South West of France replanted the variety, Bordeaux much less so - even though Malbec is one of the ten grape varietels allowed in a red wine Bordeaux blend.
