The winners are announced for South Africa's Fine Wine Awards 2015.
540 wines from a record 140 Wineries from across South Africa entered this prestigious competition. Jordan Estate were one of the major winners for this year, with 4 of their wines being selected for the Top 100. They were one of the few vineyards to win a Vineyard Consistency Award, having had 14 wines in the Top 100 over the last five years.
Gary Jordan from iconic Jordan Wine Estate adds (4 wins): ‘Being in control of our own vineyards ensures that Jordan Wine Estate consistently producers some of the best wines of South Africa. This is a result of a strong vineyard and cellar teams. Older vines and the right terroir give us the ultimate Synergy between Soil and Soul.’

Today is World Malbec Day! 17th April. Established in 2011 to commemorate the day in 1853 when Argentinian President Domingo Faustino Sarmiento asked French soil expert Michel Aime Pouget to bring over new vines to Argentina. Malbec being one of the many selected. A blessing as many years later, and then decades later again - France suffered blights that all but destroyed the Malbec vines growing there. Malbec has flourished in Argentina.
We have several Malbec Wines and Malbec blends - all delicious and worth trying. Malbec is an accessible wine, both in taste and price.
