Silver for Signature Cuvee, Pinot Noir Sparkling Rose and Pinot Noir Early Red, and a Bronze for our Pinot Noir still Rose. Considering this is their first vintage for sparklings - a fantastic, but well deserved achievement.
We've all been hearing about the rise of English wines, especially English Sparkling wines,Sixteen Ridges sparklers are ones to try. The vineyard is based in Worcestershire, in a sheltered hillside along the river Severn valley. The vineyard was started in 2007 by Simon Day, someone with years of experience in English wine making including Denbies Wine Estate and Three Choirs Vineyard. The Pinot Noir Early Red has been causing excitment for a while - it's not easy producing a good red wine in England, but Simon has managed it with this one. It just seems to go from strength to strength and yesterdays' award recognises that.
SIGNATURE CUVEÉ SPARKLING
Vivacious sparkling white wine made with Pinot Noir and Seyval Blanc grapes. Lemon; baked apple; honeysuckle and hazelnut character with an elegant long clean finish.
Try with smoked trout; salmon canapés or freshly shucked oysters.
Made from the clear free-run juice of Pinot Noir and Seyval Blanc in the Traditional (Champagne) Method with a secondary fermentation in the bottle, this wine has had over 12 months on yeast lees prior to disgorging to remove the yeast.
PINOT NOIR ROSÉ SPARKLING
Sumptuous, rich palate of strawberry, cherry, redcurrant and raspberry – summer pudding in a glass! The vibrant acidity leaves the palate clean and crisp with long lasting raspberry finish.
The perfect aperitif or delicious alongside a bowl of ripe strawberries!
Made exclusively with Pinot Noir, using free-run and first pressings to achieve a light “salmon pink” colour, and to develop the berry fruit characters. Made in the Traditional (Champagne) Method with a secondary fermentation in the bottle, this wine has had over 12 months on yeast lees prior to disgorging to remove the yeast.
PINOT NOIR EARLY RED
Round and fruity with hints of spice.
A light bodied red with cherry, raspberry and earthy vanilla notes to the aroma and palate, with a subtle soft oak finish.
Fermented on skin with regular “cap punching” by hand and extended maceration before pressing. The wine was then allowed to mature on oak for several months to achieve the complexity and soft rounded finish.
